Kuala lumpur: The landmark Johor Super Crown Polo Tournament (JSCPT) 2026 officially kicked off today at the iconic Istana Pasir Pelangi Royal Polo Ground, here, marking the largest and highest handicap polo tournament ever staged in Malaysia. According to BERNAMA News Agency, operating under the campaign banner "Legacy in Motion," the six-day tournament runs until Sept 6, bringing together five elite teams vying for the coveted title: Royal Johor, Temasek, J-Corp, Korea Polo, and Digital Bridge. The Royal Johor Polo Club in a statement today said the action begins with Royal Johor taking on Temasek at 2 pm, followed by the second fixture between Digital Bridge and J-Corp at 3.40 pm. The club said all matches will be broadcast live globally via PoloLine.TV, bringing the unmatched spectacle of Royal Johor to international audiences. Conceived by The Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail, the event sets a new benchmark for the sport in the country. "It positions the JSCPT 2026 not just as a sporting event, but as a historic moment where tradition meets modern velocity, transforming timeless prestige into a living, breathing spectacle," the statement said. The club noted that the tournament is driven by a shared vision between Tunku Mahkota Ismail and world polo icon Polito Pieres, aiming to firmly establish Johor as a premier destination on the international luxury sports circuit. The roster features a formidable international field, including several multiple Argentine Open champions such as Royal Johor's Polito Pieres and Temasek's Ignatius Nachi Du Plessis. "The appearance of these world-class players on the Istana Pasir Pelangi pitch elevates the tournament to the highest level of polo yet staged in Malaysia," the statement said, adding that the event also serves as a powerful catalyst for high-end sports tourism. The tournament, including the highly anticipated Gala Night and Grand Final, is strictly by-invitation-only.
