Muscat: Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari has congratulated the national athletics squad after they returned from the 2026 Muscat Grand Prix in Oman with two gold and two bronze medals.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the two gold medals were secured by the men's and women's 4x100 metres (m) relay teams. Meanwhile, bronze medals were won by Malaysia's second men's 4x100m quartet and Andre Anura Anuar in the men's long jump.
Mohammed Taufiq stated that this achievement serves as a positive indicator for the upcoming 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, which begin on September 19. He emphasized that the performance provides a confidence boost for the national athletes to enhance their performance on the international stage.
Dr Taufiq expressed his gratitude and congratulations to all athletes and the Malaysian Athletics community for their dedication and efforts in bringing glory to Malaysia. He encouraged them to continue their pursuit of excellence for the nation, as reflected in his message: "Congratulations once again! Keep fighting for the Jalur Gemilang!"
