Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC) has announced plans to offer 20 incentive packages next year, aiming to explore emerging markets such as the Middle East and Eastern Europe. This initiative is intended to reduce reliance on conventional markets by providing grants of up to RM30,000 for participation in trade exhibitions.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MRC's chief executive officer, Muhammad Eizaaz Muhammad Redzuan, stated that the initiative aims to support Malaysian rubber product companies, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The incentives are designed to cover market promotion, certification, compliance with international standards, human capital development, and export readiness and competitiveness enhancement.
Muhammad Eizaaz emphasized that this move aligns with efforts to diversify export destinations for Malaysia's rubber products industry. Additionally, MRC plans to expand the Pathfinder Programme, targeting companies with no export experience and assisting them until they are ready to enter international markets. The scope of the programme will be broadened to include sectors related to latex rubber products beyond gloves.
He highlighted the potential impact of trade agreements such as the Malaysia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is expected to enhance market access through tariff reductions and trade facilitation. MRC is also planning to participate in major Middle Eastern trade exhibitions, such as the World Health Expo (WHX) Dubai, Automechanika Dubai, Big 5 Global, and the Global Health Exhibition in Saudi Arabia.
Muhammad Eizaaz identified Poland as a strategic entry point into Eastern Europe, particularly for automotive-related products, medical products, and rubber-based components. He mentioned that Poland's rapidly growing market serves as a hub to access the broader Eastern European market. A working visit is planned for 2026 to explore opportunities and potential barriers in this region.
Beyond industrial development, MRC is also engaged in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives as part of its role under the Plantation and Commodities Ministry. Key initiatives include coordinating the COVID-19 pandemic contribution of more than 39 million pieces of rubber gloves, supporting humanitarian missions to Palestine in 2023, and participating in post-pandemic social programs based on the Malaysia MADANI concept.
