MPI e-Journal To Be Launched In Conjunction With Malaysian Journalism Night 2025

Kuala Lumpur: The launch of the Malaysian Press Institute’s (MPI) e-Journal, by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, will be the highlight of the Malaysian Journalism Night 2025 at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MPI chief executive officer Haji Ainol Amriz Ismail stated that the e-Journal, published for the first time, aims to empower scientific writing among journalists, particularly in the fields of journalism, media, and communication. He emphasized that this initiative is part of MPI’s efforts to promote a culture of knowledge and strengthen the national journalism landscape through an academic approach.

The prestigious awards ceremony, organized by MPI, will be attended by nearly 1,000 guests, including prominent journalists, senior editors, reporters, media practitioners, and corporate partners from across the country. PETRONAS, the main sponsor, will also have its senior management present at the event, which will feature the presentation of the MPI-PETRONAS Malaysia Journalism Awards 2024 across 23 categories.

Ainol Amriz mentioned that MPI will also host a special exhibition in the main hall corridor, showcasing the history of the institution and the evolution of the Malaysian Journalism Awards since its inception. He noted that the ceremony not only recognizes the best works of the country’s journalists but also highlights journalism’s contribution as a driver of societal and national progress.

The MPI-PETRONAS Malaysian Journalism Awards 2024 offers a total prize value of RM450,000. The gold winner will receive a trophy, certificate, and cash, while the silver and bronze winners will be awarded a certificate and cash. This year, the MPI received 549 entries from 58 media organizations nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak, indicating a growing interest in producing high-quality and impactful works.

Additionally, the MPI accepts nominations for three special categories that acknowledge the contributions of journalists throughout their careers. The winners will be announced during the award presentation segments tomorrow night.
