MOTAC to Intensify Visit Malaysia Year Promotions in Key Markets

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will intensify promotional efforts in several key markets, including Europe, Asia, and ASEAN, to ensure the targets for the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026 campaign are met. Its Minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, announced that the move is part of the ministry's strategy to promote national tourism following current developments in West Asia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tiong emphasized the importance of discussing re-strategising efforts. "For now, MOTAC and all its agencies will focus on the European, Asian, and ASEAN markets," he informed the media after attending an Iftar Ramadan event. This strategy aims to ensure the resilience of the country's tourism sector while maintaining Malaysia's position as a competitive international destination.

Tiong also mentioned that MOTAC would hold a meeting with tourism industry stakeholders to discuss new promotional strategies for VMY 2026, considering the tensions in West Asia. The internal meeting aimed to review current developments and restructure promotional activities to mitigate potential impacts on the industry.
