Moscow Brands Target Partnerships in Malaysia Through MIHAS 2026

Moscow:Moscow-based brands are seeking partners and distributors in Malaysia and neighboring countries for their halal products through the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sergei Kuznetsov, head of e-commerce development at the Moscow Export Center, stated that 15 Moscow-based companies are showcasing their products for the first time at the 'Made in Moscow' collective booth. He expressed expectations that export contracts will be signed following the exhibition, helping Moscow-based brands find suitable partners and distributors in the region.

Kuznetsov noted that Malaysia represents a rapidly growing market with a high demand for quality food products, including halal items. He mentioned that many participating Moscow-based companies already hold relevant certifications. For instance, Pobeda, a confectionery producer, holds a halal certificate recognized in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, while Ochakovo produces halal beverages.

The exhibitors include manufacturers of consumer goods, food products, and cosmetics, such as MAKFA, Russia's largest pasta producer. Their product range covers confectionery, pasta, grains, snacks, fish and seafood, vegetable oils, cosmetics, and oral care products.

MIHAS attracts buyers from the Gulf states, Southeast Asia, and Africa, allowing Moscow-based companies to reach multiple markets through one exhibition. Participating under the Made in Moscow collective booth helps companies reduce promotion costs, with the Moscow Export Center organizing the booth and business program while assisting in partner searches.

Kuznetsov emphasized that Moscow's non-resource, non-energy exports to Malaysia grew by 146 percent by the end of 2025, with Moscow's share of total Russian exports to Malaysia reaching 20.2 percent. He expressed confidence that cooperation between Moscow and Malaysian entrepreneurs will expand, positioning the exhibition as an important step in this direction.

MIHAS 2026 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre. Organized by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and coordinated by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRDE), the event runs from September 23 to 26, aiming for a RM5 billion potential business target and attracting over 50,000 visitors from 45 countries.
