Month-long Free LRT3 Fare Gives Public Chance To Try New Service

Kuala lumpur: The announcement of a month-long free fare for the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT) Shah Alam Line has been well received by commuters, especially students, who view the initiative as an effort to reduce daily transport costs, while giving the public the opportunity to try out the new service.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Bachelor of Journalism student Arissa Ahmad Khairul, 22, described the free fare initiative as very helpful for students who previously relied on e-hailing services or parental assistance to commute. She noted that the initiative, along with the more comfortable train facilities, will assist students in reducing transport costs and saving time on their journeys.

Media personnel Yasmin Ahmad, 25, expressed that the month-long free fare is a proactive measure allowing more people to experience the new service without worrying about travel costs. She emphasized that it would enable commuters to appreciate the advantages of public transport over private vehicles, including time and cost savings.

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Students' Representative Council president Mohamad Adib Hazim Mohamad Razali highlighted the benefits of the Shah Alam Line for students, particularly those living off-campus. With only about 13,500 out of approximately 42,000 UiTM students residing in residential colleges, the new line will facilitate easier commutes for many traveling from Kuala Lumpur and Subang Jaya.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the LRT3 Shah Alam Line will offer free rides to all passengers for one month starting tomorrow (June 29) until July 31. The free fare initiative will also extend to Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana)-operated feeder bus services along the Shah Alam Line.
