Kuala lumpur: Malaysia's natural rubber (NR) production increased by 31.5 per cent to 26,553 tonnes in June 2026 from 20,198 tonnes in May 2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in its Monthly Rubber Statistics report for June 2026, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) noted that NR production saw a year-on-year rise of 1.2 per cent from 26,249 tonnes in June 2025. DOSM reported that the primary contributors to this increase were smallholders, accounting for 88.7 per cent of the production, compared to estates which contributed 11.3 per cent.

Furthermore, DOSM highlighted that total NR stocks in June 2026 increased by 5.2 per cent to 129,524 tonnes from 123,149 tonnes in May 2026. The majority of these stocks were held by rubber processors factories, which contributed 77.8 per cent, followed by rubber consumers factories at 22.1 per cent, and rubber estates at 0.1 per cent.

Malaysia's NR exports also saw substantial growth, with a reported 38,862 tonnes exported in June 2026, marking a 35.2 per cent increase from 28,742 tonnes in May 2026. China was the leading destination for these exports, accounting for 55.8 per cent, followed by Germany at 11.5 per cent, the United States at 6.7 per cent, and both Turkiye and India at 3.1 per cent each. Export performance was significantly boosted by NR-based products such as rubber gloves, tyres, rubber tubes, and rubber thread.

DOSM further detailed that rubber gloves remained the predominant export item among rubber-based products, with a value of RM1.4 billion in June 2026, representing a 19.7 per cent increase from RM1.2 billion in May 2026. However, the average monthly price of concentrated latex decreased by 3.6 per cent to 735.82 sen per kilogramme (kg) in June 2026 from 763.16 sen per kg in May 2026. Conversely, the average monthly price of scrap rubber saw an increase of 6.0 per cent, reaching 792.76 sen per kg in June 2026 from 747.78 sen per kg in May 2026.
