MOE Prioritizes Student and Teacher Welfare in 2027 Budget Allocation

Accra:The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Malaysia has been allocated nearly RM69 billion in the 2027 Budget, emphasizing the welfare of students and teachers, as well as school maintenance and the construction of new schools.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, The MOE plans to continue several key programs, including the Early Schooling Aid (BAP), the Supplementary Food Programme (RMT), and allowances for both Form Six students and those with special educational needs. The ministry aims to enhance teacher welfare and professionalism as part of its efforts to improve the quality of the nation's education system.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the MOE would receive the largest allocation in the 2027 Budget. This allocation allows for doubling the funds for school repair and maintenance to RM2 billion and includes increased allocations for National Schools, National-Type Chinese Schools, and Tamil National-Type Schools. Additionally, RM1.3 billion is set aside to upgrade 682 dilapidated schools, primarily in Sabah and Sarawak.

The School Early Assistance (BAP) will see an increase from RM150 to RM200 per student, impacting 5.3 million students with a total allocation of RM1 billion. The government will also provide a cost-of-living allowance of RM2,500 to Form Six students.

The MOE emphasized its commitment to ensuring efficient financial governance and the effective implementation of initiatives, aiming for high-impact outcomes from the budget allocation.
