Kuala Lumpur:The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) is set to receive a significant allocation of RM490 million through Budget 2027. This funding will be directed towards enhancing human resources and implementing modern technology for national border security control.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail emphasized that this substantial increase from the previous RM20 million reflects the government's commitment to strengthening the MCBA's role as the primary authority in national border control. The allocation is essential for improving the agency's operational capabilities in light of its growing responsibilities.
Saifuddin further explained that the increased funds would address staffing shortages at entry points, allowing for an expansion of human resource capabilities. He highlighted the need for specialised equipment and advanced technological tools, such as closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, to enhance border security.
The overall allocation for the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) under Budget 2027 totals RM22 billion. Saifuddin noted that part of this funding would prioritize the welfare of uniformed personnel, including the provision of better living quarters and upgraded facilities.
Additionally, the ministry plans to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve productivity, efficiency, and service delivery across its agencies. The "AI for KDN, KDN for AI" initiative has been set in motion for the past three years, underlining the importance of technology in security and service management. AI technology is already being utilized in various security control aspects, with future applications expected to further enhance service quality and optimize expenditures.
