Kuala lumpur: MNRB Holdings Berhad, an investment holding company, has allocated nearly RM600,000 through its MNRB Lestari Cemerlang Programme, benefiting six schools across the nation. MNRB's interim president and group chief executive officer, Datuk Rudy Rodzila Che Lamin, noted that the adopted school programme was initiated in 2011 as part of the company's corporate social responsibility efforts.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme aims to enhance academic performance, character development, and school excellence, with a focus on rural areas. Rudy Rodzila emphasized that the initiative seeks to aid schools and students in reaching their full potential by addressing both academic and co-curricular aspects. He expressed hope that the programme would act as a catalyst for student success and provide more opportunities for further education and brighter futures. This announcement was made during the programme's launch at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kubor Panjang.
The event was officiated by Kedah State Education Department deputy director (Learning Sector) Ishak Awang and attended by SMK Kubor Panjang principal Mohd Fadzli Abd Aziz, along with senior management from the MNRB Group. Rudy Rodzila mentioned that SMK Kubor Panjang is the sixth school included in the programme, following its earlier implementation in Perak, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Selangor.
Under the programme, various initiatives have been introduced to support both staff and students, including extra classes for Form Five students, motivational camps, student development programmes, facility upgrades, sports jersey sponsorships, and a school greening initiative. Additionally, MNRB has sponsored a learning space called the MNRB Smart e-Learning Room, equipped with a smart television and internet facilities, to enhance digital learning.
Meanwhile, MNRB Group's chief people officer, Hazlina Hazani, announced that five top students from SMK Kubor Panjang would receive scholarships under the Tabung Biasiswa MNRB initiative, supporting their academic pursuits from diploma to master's levels. To date, 14 students from previously adopted schools have received sponsorship through this initiative, with eight now employed by the MNRB Group post-graduation. Hazlina noted that the Tabung Biasiswa MNRB is specifically for outstanding students from adopted schools pursuing higher education in fields related to MNRB's business, such as insurance, takaful, and finance.
