Segamat:Nineteen projects with an investment value of RM279.1 million have been approved in the Segamat district, Johor. These projects are distributed across Buluh Kasap, Chaah, Jementah, Segamat Town, and Labis.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) stated that these projects have the potential to create 680 new job opportunities. Additionally, seventeen projects with an investment value of RM239.4 million have been approved in the Sekijang parliamentary constituency, covering the Pemanis and Kemelah state constituencies. These Sekijang projects could potentially generate 612 new job opportunities.

The approved investments in both the Segamat district and the Sekijang parliamentary constituency include sectors such as food and wood-based products, metal fabrication, and various supporting industries. The statement from MITI was in response to an inquiry by Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa (PH-Sekijang) concerning the types and numbers of investments, their values, involved sectors, job opportunities, and plans to attract further investment to enhance the local economy.

The projects approved in Segamat and the Sekijang parliamentary constituency are at varying stages of implementation. Some have already become operational, while others are in progress or in the process of installing machinery and equipment. MITI, along with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), plans to continue collaborating with the Johor state government, Invest Johor, local authorities, technical agencies, and industrial park developers to stimulate economic activities and attract more investment into the area.
