MIGHT Launches Four Strategic Reports To Guide Policymakers, Investors And Industry Players

Langkawi: The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) has launched four strategic industry reports aimed at guiding policymakers, investors, and industry players in identifying opportunities, risks, and mitigation strategies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the reports serve as benchmarks and strategic references for industry stakeholders, offering market analyses, comprehensive data, and in-depth assessments of current trends. They form part of MIGHT’s holistic approach to shaping the development of Malaysia’s high-technology sectors, involving multi-level stakeholders, situational analysis, and policy evaluation.

The launch ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Chang Lih Kang, and featured the unveiling of the following reports: the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Industry Report, the Exploring Malaysia’s Space Frontiers 2024/2025 Report, the Aerospace Technology and Innovation Report 2025/2026, and the Malaysian Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (SBSR) Industry Report 2025/2026.

MIGHT co-chairman (Industry) Tan Sri Ahmad Tajuddin Ali emphasized the importance of key technologies in the maritime sector, such as eco-friendly ship design and integration of renewable energy. These are seen as essential for sustainability, efficiency, and global competitiveness. The SBSR sector reportedly generated RM4.4 billion in revenue in 2023, with shipbuilding and repair order values reaching RM12 billion and RM1 billion respectively, reflecting strong market confidence.

Ahmad Tajuddin also noted that the AAM Industry Report highlights the strategic potential of next-generation air mobility in various sectors, including public transportation and national security. However, challenges such as outdated regulatory frameworks and infrastructure gaps were identified, with a focus on overcoming these barriers to establish Malaysia as a regional leader in the AAM sector.

According to MIGHT, the reports aim to provide a clearer view of the market landscape, covering industry size, growth rates, competitiveness, and performance benchmarks, thus reducing uncertainty in strategic planning. Through a rigorous research methodology, MIGHT is committed to delivering insights to strengthen Malaysia’s high-tech ecosystem.
