Melaka Strengthens TVET Agenda for Youth Empowerment

Kuala lumpur: Melaka is set to bolster its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to arm the state's youth with essential skills for future opportunities. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh emphasized the importance of equipping young individuals with skills to thrive in high-tech industries and capitalize on new opportunities emerging within the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Chief Minister outlined that the government's objective is to ensure that youth not only secure employment and income but also possess the skills, competitiveness, and confidence needed to excel in any field they choose. During the Melaka State-Level Festival Belia @ Hari Belia Negara at Jasin Stadium, he highlighted the critical role of young people in driving the state's progress.

The event was also attended by Melaka Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Datuk VP Shanmugam and State Investment, Industry and TVET Development Committee deputy chairman Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar, who is the president of Majlis Gabungan Belia Melaka (MGBM).

Chief Minister Ab Rauf stressed that investing in human capital is as vital as infrastructure development, as the younger generation will shape Melaka's direction and progress over the next decade. With nearly 243,000 youths in the state, the government is committed to ensuring access to growth opportunities.

The 'Melaka Sayang Rakyat' concept has been introduced by the state government to reinforce youth development through initiatives focusing on employability, entrepreneurship, education, character development, and social and religious values. Since assuming state leadership, Ab Rauf has allocated nearly RM70 million for youth development programs, sports facility improvements, and other initiatives aimed at enhancing youth well-being.

The state continues to attract high-impact investments, achieving a record investment value of RM14.68 billion last year. Ab Rauf urged Melaka's youth to step out of their comfort zones and seize the opportunities provided by the government, proving their capability to compete globally.

He encouraged young people to explore their potential before age 30 by participating in government-provided leadership and entrepreneurship training programs, ensuring they become mature, competitive, and prepared for a prosperous future.
