MCMC and MACC Collaborate to Use AI for Enhanced Enforcement and Corruption Prevention

Kuala Lumpur:The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have announced plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technology to improve the detection, prevention, and management of power abuse and misappropriation risks.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MCMC stated that this initiative is part of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies, aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation in enforcement, corruption prevention, and integrity empowerment. The signing of the MoU took place at the MCMC headquarters, involving MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman.

The MoU emphasizes a coordinated cross-agency approach, sharing expertise in enforcement, investigation, digital technology, information management, and corruption prevention, along with best practices in governance, integrity, and risk management.

Both agencies plan to expand their collaboration through advocacy programs, training, knowledge sharing, and capacity building, utilizing technology, including AI. These initiatives may also be extended to the industry and other relevant stakeholders.

The MCMC noted that these efforts are expected to enhance the preparedness of both agencies in addressing complex corruption and misconduct risks, while also supporting accountability and effective public service delivery. They aim to foster a transparent, ethical, and responsible work culture, boosting confidence among the public, industry, and investors in public institutions and the communications and multimedia ecosystem.
