Kuala Lumpur:According to BERNAMA News Agency, Maxis is partnering with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) to train 6,000 entrepreneurs by 2029 through the 'Perkasa Halal' initiative. This program aims to boost the growth of businesses and cooperatives within the halal economy.
The initiative, launched by Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong during the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026, merges KUSKOP's 'Halal Sukses' programme with Maxis' 'eKelas Usahawan' (eKU) to improve the digital skills of entrepreneurs. Participants, mainly micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) operators, will develop practical skills in digital marketing and online income generation through Maxis eKU.
High-potential entrepreneurs will progress to the Maxis eKU Accelerator programme, which includes three months of intensive learning and group mentoring. This program helps entrepreneurs accelerate digitalization and prepare for business formalization, facilitating their move from micro-enterprises to small enterprises.
Minister Sim emphasized that Perkasa Halal supports KUSKOP's goal of advancing digital entrepreneurship and aiding Malaysian halal entrepreneurs in building competitive, resilient businesses, aligning with the 13th Malaysia Plan's focus on empowering MSMEs. Combining KUSKOP's ecosystem with Maxis' digital expertise aims to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and opportunities to expand their market reach globally.
Maxis chief corporate affairs officer Azizul Abdul Rahman stated that the support for entrepreneurs will continue through the Maxis eKU alumni community, providing access to development sessions, industry networking, and follow-up support. This network is designed to help participants sustain progress and explore new opportunities for business growth within Malaysia and internationally.
Through 'eKelas Usahawan', Azizul noted that practical digital skills have empowered entrepreneurs with the confidence to unlock new opportunities. With the Perkasa Halal initiative, Maxis seeks to ensure continuous support, offering guidance necessary for entrepreneurs to grow at every stage of their journey.
