MARA To Act Without Compromise On Staff Misconduct: Asyraf Wajdi

Johor bahru: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) will not compromise or cover up any integrity issues or misconduct involving its staff, said its chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. He stated that the agency would ensure appropriate action is taken by the authorities against any individual found to have committed offences, including criminal breach of trust.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Asyraf Wajdi emphasized that matters related to integrity, discipline, and strict adherence to good governance have always been prioritized by MARA. He highlighted that the agency has consistently refrained from concealing integrity and misconduct issues. If criminal breach of trust related to money is involved, MARA will lodge reports with the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and allow the courts to decide.

Responding to questions on MARA's efforts to curb integrity issues among its staff, Asyraf Wajdi mentioned that employees are consistently reminded to practice the 3iP work culture, which includes Integriti, Ihsan, and Inovatif (Integrity, Compassion, and Innovative). He asserted that this culture must align with a high level of professionalism among staff, including compliance with governance standards.

He acknowledged human imperfection but stated that it is not an excuse to tolerate or legitimize any misconduct. In a related incident on January 19, a former MARA assistant officer was charged with criminal breach of trust. The 40-year-old woman pleaded not guilty at the Muar Sessions Court to 25 charges involving RM15,839.66 belonging to four individuals related to loan repayments.
