Malaysia’s Passport Achieves Second Place in Global Ranking

Kuala Lumpur:Malaysia's passport has been ranked second in the world for strength, reflecting global confidence in the stability, security, and integrity of the country's systems, according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ranking brings tangible benefits to Malaysians through wider access to international travel and more opportunities in education, careers, business, and investment. This aligns with the MADANI Economy framework, which aims to expand Malaysia's international reach, strengthen its diplomatic standing, and enhance competitiveness globally.

The Malaysian passport climbed from third place to second in The Passport Index Global Ranking 2026, providing holders access to 175 destinations worldwide. This achievement is attributed to the continuous efforts by the Home Ministry (KDN) and the Immigration Department (JIM) to maintain high standards of integrity and security in the country's immigration system and travel documents.

Saifuddin Nasution emphasized that KDN and JIM will continue to safeguard the integrity of Malaysian passports to ensure they remain respected and trusted internationally. The enhanced passport ranking also facilitates business growth and investment, enabling Malaysian entrepreneurs to explore new markets and build international networks, ultimately benefiting families and the national economy.

The Home Minister expressed that this achievement should motivate KDN and JIM to continually strengthen integrity, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of services provided to the public.
