Kuala Lumpur:The live broadcast of the 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix Formula 1 race in Malaysia on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) is anticipated to enhance public interest in motorsports, as stated by the Youth and Sports Ministry.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ministry highlighted that the initiative could particularly captivate the younger generation, strengthening public engagement with international sporting events hosted in Malaysia.
The ministry's statement emphasized that the live broadcast allows all Malaysians to experience the excitement of Formula 1 racing, especially for those unable to attend the event at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). The initiative aims to make this world-class sporting event more accessible to people nationwide.
The Youth and Sports Ministry also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his dedication to sharing the excitement of the race with all Malaysians and acknowledged the cooperation of the Communications Ministry and RTM in facilitating the live broadcast.
The Prime Minister had previously announced that the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix would be aired live on RTM, allowing Malaysians to collectively enjoy the prestigious race. The event will be held at SIC, which has been temporarily selected as the venue for the Bahrain race.
The decision for Malaysia to host the 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain F1 GP was confirmed last July, following an agreement between Formula 1, the F©d©ration Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain.
