Malaysia’s Palm Oil Exports Drop By 16.27% In February 2025


Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s palm oil exports in February 2025 decreased by 16.27% to 1.00 million tonnes from 1.19 million tonnes in January 2025, announced the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).



According to BERNAMA News Agency, MPOB’s February 2025 industry performance report highlighted that crude palm oil (CPO) production for the month fell by 4.16%, or 51,516 tonnes, reaching 1.18 million tonnes from 1.23 million tonnes in the previous month. The output of palm kernel saw a decline of 2.25% month-on-month, amounting to 284,959 tonnes in February, down from 291,524 tonnes in January.



The report also detailed a decrease in the production of crude palm kernel oil, which dropped by 5.11% to 130,146 tonnes from 137,158 tonnes in January. Additionally, palm kernel cake production fell by 5.81% to 142,997 tonnes from the previous 151,813 tonnes.



In terms of stock levels, MPOB reported an increase in CPO stocks by 4.66% to 826,248 tonnes in February compared to 789,435 tonnes in January. However, processed palm oil stockpiles decreased by 13.27% to 685,852 tonnes from 790,817 tonnes in the preceding month. Overall, total palm oil stocks narrowed by 4.31% to 1.51 million tonnes from 1.58 million tonnes a month earlier.



The report also noted that palm kernel oil exports rose by 1.03% to 58,144 tonnes in February from 57,554 tonnes in January. Palm kernel cake exports increased by 9.86% to 194,894 tonnes from 177,396 tonnes the previous month, while biodiesel exports saw a significant rise of 24.43% to 42,052 tonnes in February from 33,795 tonnes in January.



Despite these increases, oleochemical exports were lower at 198,426 tonnes, a 14.39% decrease from 231,791 tonnes in January. MPOB also noted that there were no crude palm oil imports in February, while total palm kernel oil imports surged by 122.46% to 12,699 tonnes from 5,708 tonnes the previous month.
