Malaysia’s E-sports Team Triumphs at Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

Nagoya:Malaysia The national e-sports team has achieved notable success at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games by securing one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. This accomplishment highlights the impact of strong government support, particularly from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), in advancing the country's e-sports sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF) attributed the team's success to strategic planning, meticulous preparation, and collaboration with key organizations such as KBS, the National Sports Council (MSN), the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), and the National Sports Institute (ISN).

The MESF emphasized that this historic achievement underscores the effectiveness of the Podium Programme initiative, which offers a structured and professional training environment for national e-sports athletes.

The federation also expressed gratitude towards the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari, for his commitment to promoting e-sports as a high-performance sport in Malaysia. The integration of e-sports athletes into the Podium Programme on a full-time basis is seen as a significant step in aligning e-sports with other high-performance sports, providing stability and focus for the athletes.

By prioritizing infrastructure, welfare, and the future of athletes, the program enables them to concentrate fully on tournament preparations. The MESF believes that this success at Aichi-Nagoya is just the beginning of efforts to cultivate world-class e-sports talent and develop the nation's e-sports industry further.
