Kuala Lampur:Malaysia has reached the halfway point of its target to secure six gold medals at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, having so far won three golds and five bronze medals.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Jefri Ngadirin expressed that the achievement of three gold medals has given the Malaysian team a strong boost. However, he advised the athletes not to become complacent, as many events are still ahead.

Jefri emphasized the importance of each athlete's contribution to the national contingent, congratulating those who have won medals and acknowledging the collective effort of athletes, coaches, associations, and support teams. He urged all athletes to give their best and embody the Malaysian spirit in every competition.

He also encouraged Malaysians to continue supporting and praying for their athletes competing in Aichi-Nagoya.

Malaysia's first gold was clinched by karate athlete Adeola Fay Robert in the women's under-55kg individual kumite event. Esports athlete Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira secured the second gold in the Gran Turismo 7 eRacing event, with karate exponent Shahmalarani Chandran adding a third gold in the women's under-50kg individual kumite.

The country has also earned five bronze medals. The winners include Thevendran Kaliana Sundram in the men's under-55kg individual kumite, Sureeya Shankar Hari Shankar in the men's under-60kg individual kumite, the men's team kata squad, Tan Cheong Min in the women's nanquan and nandao wushu event, and Clement Ting Su Wei in the men's daoshu and gunshu wushu event.
