Aichi:Malaysia settled for silver in the eFootball event at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games after Iran came from behind to claim a 4-2 aggregate win in the final at the Aichi Sky Expo.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia's Muhammad Hariz Hazmi Hakimin and Farish Luzman initially made a strong start, with Farish defeating Iran's Abolfazl Aghainasab 2-1 in the opening mobile platform match. However, Iran quickly responded and took control in the console platform segment.

Muhammad Hariz Hazmi then lost 0-3 to three-time world champion Hassan Pajani, sealing Iran's aggregate win and the gold medal. The result awarded Malaysia the silver medal in eFootball, while Iran took the gold.

Earlier at the Games, Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira made history as the first Malaysian esports athlete to win Asian Games gold, triumphing in the Gran Turismo 7 (GT7) event.
