Kuala Lumpur:A former Religious and Fardu Ain Class (KAFA) teacher was fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate's Court for kicking a Year Five pupil in the face, resulting in gum injuries. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid imposed the maximum fine, with a default sentence of four months in jail, after Abdullah Mustakim, 33, pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to the pupil. The incident occurred in a classroom at about 2.30 pm on October 23, 2024. Abdullah was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which stipulates a maximum prison term of one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutor Mazlinda Mohd Nor handled the prosecution, while Abdullah, who now works as a labourer with a monthly income of RM1,000 and supports a wife and three young children, was represented by lawyer Farazalila Fauzi from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK). The case facts reveal that the pupil informed his mother about the incident at about 5.15 pm while sh e was at a night market, explaining that Abdullah had kicked him during a KAFA class, causing the injury to his gums.
