MACC To Charge Celebrity Preacher Tomorrow Over RM12.3 Mln Misappropriation

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will charge the chairman of a non-governmental organisation (NGO), who is also a celebrity preacher, at the Seremban Sessions Court tomorrow in connection with the alleged misappropriation of funds worth more than RM12 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a press invite sent by the agency today revealed that the celebrity preacher and the NGO's secretary, both in their 30s, will be charged at 9 am. This follows the arrest of a freelance preacher on April 22 by the Negeri Sembilan MACC, who was suspected of abusing his position and misappropriating approximately RM12.3 million in funds from an NGO for personal gain.

Following investigations, the Negeri Sembilan MACC took definitive steps by freezing 15 accounts. These include three personal accounts, three NGO accounts, and nine company accounts, collectively holding a total value of about RM16.5 million. In addition, the MACC seized cash amounting to RM6,576, along with foreign currency totaling SAR95,568 and SGD795.

The seizure also included luxury items such as three watches valued at approximately RM5,000, three handbags worth RM3,000, five bracelets valued at RM26,000, a ring worth RM2,000, a necklace priced at RM7,000, and 51 one-gram gold pieces valued at about RM31,000.
