Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is determined to strengthen public confidence in the agency through effective actions and investigation results, said its Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman. Therefore, Abdul Halim stated that the MACC will continue to focus on the efficiency of task execution and work results to avoid negative perceptions from certain parties towards the agency.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abd Halim emphasized the importance of the MACC's commitment to "walk the talk" by proving their dedication through actions and outcomes. He highlighted that the agency's primary duty is to investigate complaints, acknowledging that those under investigation may not view the MACC favorably. He stressed the importance of carrying out duties based on established rules and laws, without fear or intimidation.

Abd Halim also urged the public to refrain from interfering or making statements that could influence any ongoing investigations. He reminded that such actions are an offence under Section 48 of the MACC Act 2009. He acknowledged the right of individuals to express their views but emphasized that this comes with limitations, especially when cases are still under investigation.

Further, Abd Halim advised the public to exercise control over comments even after investigations are completed, to avoid perceptions of interference or bias that could disrupt the investigation process. He expressed confidence in the quality of work demonstrated by MACC officers and staff, praising their world-class standards. He also mentioned plans to enhance organizational capabilities with modern technology and reinforce anti-corruption efforts through initiatives like the MACC Cadets in secondary schools.
