Seremban: After spending five years playing with Belgian club KV Kortrijk, young striker Luqman Hakim Shamsuddin is ready to make his mark with Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) in the upcoming season of the Malaysia League. He said that playing abroad since 2020 has taught him plenty about discipline, mental toughness, and the high intensity of the game that he intends to put to good use this season.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Luqman expressed his belief that Negeri Sembilan is the ideal team for him to join in Malaysia due to his confidence in the management’s plans and the guidance of head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil. He shared his ambition to help restore NSFC’s glory days and urged fans to be patient and continue supporting the team as they work on building team chemistry.
The 23-year-old emphasized that understanding within the team is crucial to achieving their performance goals and highlighted the importance of translating game intensity into consistent play on the field. He noted the difference in match intensity when playing abroad and acknowledged that while the situation in Malaysia might differ from Belgium, his international experience would benefit the team’s efforts this season.
Luqman Hakim was the first Malaysian player to sign a contract with a major European club for five seasons in 2020, playing for both the main squad and the development team. His career also included loans to foreign clubs such as Iceland’s Njarovik FC and Japan’s YSCC Yokohama.
At the launch event, Tunku Syed Razman, Negeri Sembilan Football Association (PBNS) president, highlighted the significance of the Warrix Concept Store and the NSFC ‘Hobin’ membership card in strengthening the professional football ecosystem in the state. The store serves as a hub for official jerseys and sports equipment, while the membership card offers benefits like exclusive discounts, pre-sale tickets, and interactions with NSFC players.
