Lee Chean Chung Resigns as Petaling Jaya MP Amid PKR Suspension

Kuala Lumpur:Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stated that Lee Chean Chung, a former party member, had not participated in party meetings or congresses for some time.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar noted that Lee, who resigned as the Petaling Jaya MP with immediate effect, had also distanced himself from party affairs for about a year. Anwar expressed that if Lee is no longer interested in being involved, there is no issue, and he can leave on good terms, acknowledging his contributions over the years.

Lee's resignation comes after PKR decided to suspend his membership for three years. Anwar addressed Lee's claims regarding withheld allocations for Petaling Jaya, asserting that the government ensures the smooth implementation of development projects, including schools, surau, mosques, temples, and roads, which will not be affected by Lee's resignation.

Anwar also mentioned that any potential legal action against Lee has been referred to PKR secretary-general Datuk Fuziah Salleh and the party's Legal Committee. Lee had announced his resignation following the receipt of his suspension letter on September 30.
