KKDW Injects Over RM1.9 Million into Sungai Rambai for Infrastructure and Festivals

Sungai rambai: The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) has earmarked RM1.911 million for the enhancement of roads and public amenities in Sungai Rambai, with projects slated between 2021 and 2026. This initiative aims to bolster the region's infrastructure and provide a more hospitable environment for its residents.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Rubiah Wang, the Deputy Minister, announced that RM1.001 million has been allocated specifically for 11 projects under the Social Amenities Programme (PAMS). These projects are designed to elevate the quality of public facilities and foster a more livable rural atmosphere.

In addition, KKDW has embarked on 13 Rural Connectivity Road (JPD) projects within the Sungai Rambai vicinity, with an investment of RM910,000. These projects are crucial for improving accessibility, facilitating the daily activities of residents, and invigorating the local economy.

Datuk Rubiah Wang shared these developments during the closing ceremony of the D'Bendang Melaka Festival. The event also featured the presence of prominent figures such as Melaka Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communications Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan and Sungai Rambai assemblywoman Datuk Siti Faizah Abdul Azis.

The D'Bendang Melaka Festival, now in its fourth year, is poised to continue as a premier agrotourism attraction. It showcases the picturesque padi fields and rich rural cultural heritage, while concurrently providing sustainable economic benefits for local communities.

As Rubiah elaborated, the festival serves as a dynamic platform that merges rural economic development, tourism, arts and culture, and community involvement, establishing itself as a leading agrotourism highlight in the country.

The festival's impact extends beyond tourism, creating ripple effects in the local economy by fostering the growth of the homestay and rural tourism sectors. It also plays a significant role in preserving cultural heritage and enhancing community bonds through traditional engagements.

Furthermore, the festival supports the local economy by featuring over 60 local entrepreneurs who market small and medium enterprise (SME) products, handicrafts, and agricultural goods. The D'Bendang Festival aligns with the objectives of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, positioning Melaka as a prime agrotourism hub for both domestic and international travelers.
