Kuala Lampur:His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has granted royal assent to seven Acts passed during the Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, which took place from June 22 to July 16.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor announced that these Acts include the Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Act 2026 and the Sexual Offences Against Children (Amendment) Act 2026. Additionally, the National Trust Fund Act 2026, Road Transport (Amendment) Act 2026, Witness Protection (Amendment) Act 2026, Communications and Multimedia (Amendment) Act 2026, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (Amendment) Act 2026 received royal assent.
The announcement was made at the beginning of the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, which is scheduled to last for 37 days, concluding on December 8. Budget 2027 is set to be a significant topic of debate, with its second reading scheduled for 3:30 pm this Friday.
Other matters expected to be discussed in the Dewan Rakyat this week include briefings on reports by select committee chairmen, as well as debates on the Auditor-General's Report 2/2026 and other bills. Three briefings by the select committee chairmen on their respective reports were also presented today.
Ramli also expressed condolences on behalf of Parliament to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family following the passing of his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, on September 28.
