Kuala Lampur:Kedah: A total of 28 illegal immigrants of various nationalities were detained during an operation codenamed Ops Sapu conducted at four separate premises around Pokok Sena and Jitra.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Kedah Immigration Department (JIM) stated that the operation, which began at midnight, involved inspections at a workers' quarters in Jitra, an unnumbered premises on the Bukit Kayu Hitam highway, a premises on Jalan Wang Tepus, Jitra, and a premises in Kampung Jabi, Pokok Sena.

During the operation, 63 individuals were inspected, leading to the detention of 28 people. The detainees included 25 men, two women, and a child, ranging in age from one to 47 years. Among them were 12 Myanmar nationals, 12 Bangladeshi nationals, and four Indonesian nationals, all of whom were taken to the Belantik Immigration Depot in Sik for further investigation and action.

The identified offenses included violations of Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. A Form IMM.29 (Summons to Witness) was issued during the inspections to facilitate the investigation.

The Kedah JIM emphasized its commitment to intensifying enforcement operations statewide to ensure compliance with immigration laws. They warned that strict action would be taken against any parties employing, sheltering, or allowing foreign nationals to stay on their premises without valid travel documents or permits.
