Kuala Lampur:According to BERNAMA News Agency, a former Religious and Fardu Ain Class (KAFA) teacher was fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate's Court for kicking a Year Five pupil in the face, resulting in injuries to the pupil's gums. The incident took place in a classroom at about 2.30 pm on October 23, 2024.
Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid imposed the maximum fine on Abdullah Mustakim, 33, with a default sentence of four months in jail. Abdullah pleaded guilty to the charge of voluntarily causing hurt, which falls under Section 323 of the Penal Code. This section provides for a maximum prison term of one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mazlinda Mohd Nor led the prosecution, while Abdullah was represented by lawyer Farazalila Fauzi from the National Legal Aid Foundation. Abdullah, who now works as a laborer earning RM1,000 a month, supports a wife and three young children.
The case facts revealed that the pupil informed his mother of the incident at around 5.15 pm while she was at a night market, explaining that he had been kicked in the face during a KAFA class earlier that day.
