Johor Polls: BN-PH Enjoy Very Good Ties At Federal Level, Says Ahmad Zahid

Johor: Barisan Nasional (BN) enjoys a very good relationship with Pakatan Harapan (PH) at the federal level, with cooperation between the two political coalitions remaining strong despite the heat of the Johor state election campaign. BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stressed that the leadership of both BN and PH has consistently demonstrated professionalism and political maturity, placing the national agenda above all other considerations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid emphasized that the collaboration between BN and PH is characterized by a high degree of professionalism. He noted that both coalitions effectively separate national issues from state-level concerns, ensuring that their federal partnership remains unaffected by the ongoing state election activities. This approach highlights their commitment to addressing national issues collaboratively as Cabinet members while navigating state-level matters independently.

Commenting on the current Johor state election campaign, Ahmad Zahid stated that both political coalitions remain dedicated to maintaining harmony within the Unity Government. They adopt a mature approach to campaigning, focusing on healthy competition without resorting to excessive provocation. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the UMNO president, highlighted that their political strategies are designed to foster a competitive yet respectful environment, especially in regions like Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

He further explained that the winning formula in today's political landscape hinges on the quality and merits of candidates rather than attacking or discrediting opponents. He emphasized the importance of promoting candidates with strong professional backgrounds, such as Dr Naqib Ghazali in Panti and Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba in Pasir Raja, a medical specialist and former health minister. Ahmad Zahid believes these candidates exemplify the kind of leadership that voters should consider.

The Johor state election will feature a total of 172 candidates, with the election scheduled for July 11 and early voting set for July 7.
