J-KOM Allocates 70% of Communication Efforts to Social Media

Penang:The Community Communications Department (J-KOM) is directing 70% of its communication strategies towards social media to ensure government messages and achievements reach the public directly, especially in anticipation of the Melaka state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, J-KOM Director-General Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali stated this shift is necessary as social media has become a major source of information for the public. The remaining 30% of J-KOM's efforts will focus on outreach programs and field activities like the MADANI Kita Programme (PMK), which facilitates direct engagement with the community.

Mohd Hisyamuddin emphasized the importance of a strong social media presence for effective communication of government messages. He noted that PMK complements online efforts by directly explaining policies and achievements, countering negative messages that may circulate on social platforms.

The PMK Bersama-sama Komuniti Perai @ Batu Kawan 2026 event, officiated by Penang Housing and Environment Committee chairman and Perai assemblyman Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo, attracted nearly 2,000 visitors. The event featured participation from 37 government departments and agencies, offering information on public services and hosting various activities.

In preparation for the Melaka state election, Mohd Hisyamuddin mentioned that J-KOM will intensify efforts to deliver fact-based information to assist voters in making informed decisions. He highlighted the department's commitment to sharing truthful messages about Malaysia MADANI's achievements under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Earlier, it was announced by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh that the state legislative assembly was dissolved on September 23 with the consent of Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.

Mohd Hisyamuddin also stated that the PMK serves as a platform for community engagement and feedback collection on government policies, enabling J-KOM to assess public sentiment and identify areas for improvement.
