Issues of Myanmar Nationals and Student Safety Discussed in Dewan Rakyat

Kuala Lumpur:The presence of Myanmar nationals in Malaysia and the safety of school students are key topics at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) is set to ask the Prime Minister about the government's measures to address concerns regarding the long-standing presence of Myanmar nationals, including refugees and asylum seekers.

Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota) will question the Prime Minister on the persistence of incidents threatening student safety in schools despite existing government safety guidelines and procedures.

During the Question and Answer session, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Bharu) will inquire about the latest status of implementing 17 recommendations aimed at strengthening security controls, screening, and risk management at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and other international gateways.

Additionally, the cross-border haze issue is expected to be raised by Datuk Yusuf Abd Wahab (GPS-Tanjong Manis), who will ask the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister about actions being taken, especially in Sarawak, and any diplomatic or legal measures addressed.

Following the Question and Answer session, the Dewan Rakyat will proceed with the first reading of the Supply Bill 2027 by the Finance Minister and the second reading of the Sports Development (Amendment) Bill 2026 by the Youth and Sports Minister. The Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to continue for 37 days, concluding on December 8.
