Civil Servant Remanded for Alleged Abuse of Power in RM2 Million Projects

Keningau:A civil servant has been remanded by the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly misusing his position in relation to the verification of completion certificates for 15 government projects, collectively worth RM2 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Magistrate Flavian Edward Henry granted a seven-day remand order against the suspect, which will last until October 12, 2026. This order was issued following an application by the MACC at the Keningau Magistrate's Court.

The male suspect, who is in his 40s, was detained around 4 pm yesterday after arriving at the Keningau MACC branch office to provide a statement. He is accused of abusing his role by verifying certificates for projects executed by a company owned by a family member over a period from 2021 to 2024.

Sabah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation is being conducted under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
