Toyohashi:Aichi-Nagoya: National women's karate exponent Adeola Fay Robert plans to take the Proton e.MAS electric car, which she is set to receive as an incentive for striking gold at the ongoing Asian Games, back to Sabah for her family to use.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 20-year-old athlete secured Malaysia's first gold medal of Asiad 2026 by defeating Iran's Fatemehzahra Saeidabadi 6-4 in the women's below 55-kilogramme kumite final at the Toyohashi Gymnasium. Adeola expressed her gratitude for the reward from the Malaysian Karate Federation (Makaf), stating her intention to share it with her family.
Adeola, who comes from a family of educators, mentioned that her parents teach science and mathematics, while her elder siblings are also in the teaching profession. She is currently studying at Institut Pendidikan Guru Ilmu Khas in Cheras and aspires to become a physical education teacher.
In addition, women's below 50kg kumite gold medallist C. Shahmalarani will also receive a Proton e.MAS as an incentive for her victory. Shahmalarani thanked Makaf president Datuk Nur Azmi Ahmad for the reward but has not yet disclosed her plans for the vehicle.
Nur Azmi Ahmad stated that the cars would soon be handed over to the athletes.
