Manjung:The number of storm victims seeking refuge at the Taman Desa Community Hall temporary evacuation center (PPS) in the Manjung district has increased to 31 individuals from eight families as of tonight.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this marks a rise from the 17 victims comprising six families recorded yesterday. The increase is attributed to greater awareness of the evacuation center's availability, as many had initially sought shelter with relatives. The storm, accompanied by rain on October 31, affected approximately 20 houses.
The affected areas include Pekan Beruas, Taman Beruas, Taman Desa, Perumahan Awam, Taman Seri Delima, Taman Limau Emas, Taman Anggerik, Kampung Kilang, Kampung Dendang, and Kampung Paya Lima. Infrastructure impacted by the storm includes Sekolah Kebangsaan Gangga, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Raja Shahriman, Dewan Inderawati, and the multipurpose hall at the Beruas police station residential complex.
Despite the storm's impact, no roads have been flooded or rendered impassable. The current weather is reported to be overcast, with river water levels remaining within the normal range.
