Kuala Lumpur:The government has decided to enhance the career progression of senior officers in the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) as a recognition of their significant responsibilities in safeguarding national sovereignty and security, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the agreement was reached during a special meeting chaired by Prime Minister Anwar with the top leadership of the MAF. The initiative aims to strengthen national defense capabilities in the face of a complex and challenging global security environment.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to assess the readiness of each service branch and address the procurement and maintenance needs of defense assets to ensure that the MAF's operational capabilities remain optimal. Prime Minister Anwar emphasized the importance of basing government policies and decisions on actual needs rather than theoretical considerations.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister reiterated the MADANI government's commitment to prioritizing the welfare and needs of MAF personnel. He highlighted that defending the nation's sovereignty and peace is a collective responsibility and a sacred duty that extends beyond the security forces.
