Iftar Ramadan 2026 Positioned As Key Initiative for Visit Malaysia 2026 Campaign

Kuala lumpur: The Iftar Ramadan 2026 programme organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) is being positioned as a platform to invigorate the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign by highlighting the breaking of fast experience as a national tourism product. MOTAC Secretary-General Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot stated that this year's edition has been designed to be more comprehensive and on a larger scale to strengthen the country's cultural and spiritual tourism offerings for VM2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this year's Iftar Ramadan is held in conjunction with VM2026. Although the event is organised annually, this time it is presented with more vibrant content to celebrate VM2026. The objective is to introduce the tourism products available in Malaysia, and the iftar programme itself is one of these products, offering visitors the chance to experience breaking fast in Malaysia.

The launch ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Chiew Choon Man. Also present were Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud and National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) director-general Mohd Amran Mohd Haris. The programme is organised by MOTAC through JKKN in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and is now in its 14th year.

Shaharuddin highlighted that the response has been highly encouraging, with many visitors, including foreign tourists, taking the opportunity to experience the breaking of fast atmosphere in the capital. He noted that many foreign tourists are attending and, in addition to travelling within Kuala Lumpur, they have the opportunity to personally experience breaking fast at a location that is significant to the nation.

He emphasized that the programme is not merely a mass breaking of fast event, but also a manifestation of harmony among Malaysia's multi-ethnic society and a medium to strengthen unity through spiritual and cultural activities. The programme, held today, tomorrow, as well as March 14 and 15, features various activities including the distribution of bubur lambuk, spiritual performances, congregational prayers, Quran recitation, Bicara Ramadan sessions, Malam Tujuh Likur, as well as zakat fitrah counters and moreh.
