Johor: A total of 26,933 healthcare workers in Johor will receive a special Hari Raya Aidilfitri assistance of RM100 in early April. State Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon announced that the assistance, totalling RM2.6 million, was approved during the State Executive Council meeting today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative marks the first time in the state government’s history that ‘duit raya’ is being distributed as a token of appreciation to healthcare staff. Ling Tian Soon shared this information during a press conference after officiating the Medical and Non-Medical Asset contribution ceremony for three health clinics.
Ling further explained that Johor, through the state budget, is committed to supporting the upgrade of facilities at the Gelang Patah Health Clinic, Majidee Health Clinic, and Tebrau Health Clinic, including the provision of ambulances. The state government, in collaboration with the private sector, is also contributing medical and non-medical equipment to these clinics. Ling encouraged more private entities to participate in such contributions through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Additionally, the state government is in the process of identifying a new location to relocate maternal and child healthcare services from the Gelang Patah Health Clinic to help alleviate congestion.
