Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim praised and expressed his appreciation to everyone involved, as well as members of the public who attended the 2026 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya here today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar described the event as a "Great, great show! Alhamdulillah, good. Thank you very much," after witnessing the 69th National Day parade and procession. Following the vibrant and patriotic celebration, he engaged with the enthusiastic crowds, walking over 500 metres around Dataran Putrajaya and even fulfilling requests for photographs.

During the event, a member of the crowd expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister for increasing the monthly basic eligibility quota under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme from 200 litres to 300 litres, a change he announced in his National Day Prime Minister's Address.

The celebration, which commenced at 8 am, was honoured by the presence of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the King and Queen of Malaysia. Their Majesties were greeted by Anwar and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, alongside Communications Minister and 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) Main Committee chairman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.

Themed 'Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati', the celebration featured a military ceremony, stage performances, and a vibrant parade reflecting the Malaysia MADANI vision, which emphasizes the people's well-being and the respect for diversity.

The parade involved 10,819 participants from 76 contingents and 22 marching bands, as well as 11 decorated vehicles, 328 land, sea, and air assets, 112 service animals, and 22 electric vehicles (EVs). It also included a human graphics performance on the terraces.

The event attracted more than 100,000 attendees, with some camping at Dataran Putrajaya since the previous evening, while others arrived in large numbers early in the morning.

In his National Day Address yesterday, Anwar unveiled six major government initiatives aimed at enhancing the people's well-being, including the restoration of the BUDI95 monthly quota to 300 litres, benefiting over 16 million users of subsidised RON95. He also announced that over half a million eligible owners of diesel-powered pickup trucks and jeeps would receive up to 400 litres of BUDI Diesel monthly, starting September 1.
