Kuala Lumpur:The government has implemented targeted subsidies and introduced the Jualan Rahmah program to make essential goods affordable, aiming to mitigate the effects of external economic risks on the population.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia's fuel supply benefits from the support of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and the country's own refining facilities and oil and gas resources. This was highlighted by Nurhisham Hussein, the economic adviser at the Prime Minister's Office, during his appearance on Radio Televisyen Malaysia's (RTM) BizMalaysia program themed 'Budget 2027 From Growth to Well-being'.
Discussing Budget 2027, Nurhisham emphasized the importance of maintaining flexibility in economic strategies, particularly in the face of unforeseen economic developments. He pointed out that past crises had underscored the necessity of addressing challenges such as supply disruptions and rising prices.
He further noted that effective fiscal management over the past few years has provided Malaysia with the fiscal space needed to handle crises with greater adaptability.
