Kuala lumpur: The government will offer three months of free access and subscriptions to leading artificial intelligence (AI) software to young Malaysians aged 18 to 30 who successfully complete AI courses under the Rakyat Digital platform, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced. He stated that this initiative is part of the AI Untuk Rakyat (AI for the People) programme, which aims to enhance AI literacy and adoption, especially among the youth.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the AI Untuk Rakyat programme was launched to provide young individuals with essential AI knowledge and skills. The Ministry of Digital will be responsible for developing the course modules targeting the youth cohort. Participants who complete the AI courses will be rewarded with a three-month free subscription to leading AI applications.

Prime Minister Anwar highlighted that the programme will offer comprehensive modules covering various facets of AI, including AI Safety, Cyber SAFE, Agentic AI, Generative AI, and Cloud Untuk Rakyat (Cloud for the People). He emphasized that free access to AI software and subscriptions will be granted only to those who complete the courses.

Anwar further announced that the AI Untuk Rakyat programme will commence on August 31, coinciding with Merdeka Day, and expects to benefit 100,000 young people. He underscored the government's commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in Malaysia's journey towards embracing AI technologies.

Anwar concluded by stressing the national importance of using AI and increasing public awareness through intensified campaigns, marking it as a priority for the country's digital future.
