Kuala lumpur: About 3,000 applicants remain on the waiting list for units under the People's Housing Programme (PPR) managed by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), according to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the PPR waiting list in the capital continues to be extensive, with priority given based on the order of applications to B40 applicants who meet the criteria set by DBKL. Current allocations also include units reserved for police and fire department personnel and families affected by fire or the loss of a family member. This initiative aims to ensure enforcement authorities are present within communities to provide assistance.

During a working visit to PPR Seri Pantai in Pantai Dalam, Hannah Yeoh handed over PPR offer letters to 29 recipients for available units. Additionally, she distributed offer letters for the occupation of hawker centre premises to 40 local traders across eight parliamentary constituencies in Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud was also in attendance.

Hannah Yeoh announced the completion of maintenance and upgrading works at PPR Seri Pantai, costing RM2,587,100. These improvements are part of a RM300 million package to upgrade all Public Housing (PA) and PPR units in Kuala Lumpur, covering enhancements to lift facilities, road resurfacing, lighting, water pump systems, children's playgrounds, and fire prevention systems.

PPR Seri Pantai, established in 1998 with 936 residential units, is one of 25 of 64 PA and PPR projects that have been upgraded, with the remaining projects scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
