Kuala lumpur: The government is intensifying its focus on empowering rural youth in Sarawak by offering skills and entrepreneurship training along with technical education, achieving a marketability rate of 95 percent over the past two years. Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang emphasized that the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) prioritizes rural youth development in alignment with rural development policies. This includes the provision of training, business guidance, financing schemes, and market access through various agencies under KKDW.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Rubiah Wang highlighted the implementation of programs like Start Right 2.0, which aim to assist target groups by providing early exposure to entrepreneurship. These programs offer skilled rural youths the opportunity to delve into entrepreneurship. Her remarks came during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat, where she addressed a query from Ahmad Johnie Zawawi (GPS-Igan) regarding the government's initiatives to empower rural youths in Sarawak, including in the Igan parliamentary constituency. The focus is on enhancing employment opportunities and income through skills, entrepreneurship, and modern farming training programs.
