GOF Southeast Brigade Arrests 1,733 in Cross-Border Crime Crackdown

Pengkalan Kubor:The Southeast Brigade of the General Operations Force (GOF) has reported a significant crackdown on cross-border crime, recording 1,493 cases and resulting in 1,733 arrests since January. The enforcement operations have led to seizures valued over RM82.56 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the brigade's commander, Datuk Ahmad Radzi Hussain, highlighted the dedication and efficiency of his personnel in safeguarding national security and sovereignty through these enforcement duties. He emphasized the importance of strengthening intelligence capabilities and increasing awareness among personnel to counter the use of alternative routes and hidden locations by criminals.

Ahmad Radzi stressed the need for proactive measures, stating that relying solely on conventional approaches or reacting after threats have emerged is insufficient. At a recent ceremony for the handover of duties between the GOF 9th and 7th Battalions for Ops Taring Wawasan Kelantan, he urged each battalion to conduct thorough assessments of their operational areas to identify high-risk locations and update intelligence information regularly.

In addressing illegal immigration, Ahmad Radzi noted that GOF operations aim not only to make arrests but also to dismantle syndicate networks, target facilitators of illegal crossings, and detect individuals shielding migrants. He called for a sustained preventive approach to curb these activities, focusing on high-risk areas and understanding the involved parties' modus operandi.

As of the latest reports, 921 undocumented migrants of various nationalities have been detained, including 802 in Kelantan, 104 in Pahang, and 15 in Terengganu.
