GOF Central Brigade Seizes RM1 Million Worth Of Vapes In Five States

The general operations force (gof) central brigade seized 2:ig Mega raids conducted simultaneously in five states last Tuesday. GOF Central Brigade commander SAC Hakemal Hawari said the operation was carried out in collaboration with strategic partners, including the Health Ministry (MOH) and local authorities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation targeted 30 premises selling vape devices and liquids across 11 locations in Kuala Lumpur, four in Selangor, three in Negeri Sembilan, five in Melaka, and seven in Johor. During these raids, 51 individuals, including 31 men and 20 women, were screened. Two foreign men from Indonesia and Bangladesh were detained under the Immigration Act 1959/63.

The operation also resulted in collections amounting to RM28,500 from compounds and summonses issued by the MOH and local authorities for various offences. These included selling products without licenses and violations under the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 and Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-Laws.

In a separate case, Hakemal announced the breakdown of a migrant smuggling syndicate in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, through Op Taring Delta. The raid at a coastal area resulted in the detention of 41 individuals, including two alleged boat skippers from Aceh, Indonesia. The syndicate reportedly charged between RM1,500 and RM3,000 per person for each trip using large deep-sea fishing vessels.

Meanwhile, in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, GOF Northern Brigade commander SAC Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh reported the seizure of 2,684 bottles of electronic cigarette liquid and devices estimated at RM252,245. Raids were conducted on 22 premises across Perak, Kedah, and Penang, leading to the detention of 23 individuals.

Additionally, Balveer Singh's team seized 40 pig carcasses worth approximately RM96,390, suspected to be smuggled from Thailand, during an operation in Perlis. Two local men were detained in connection with this case.
