Fire Engulfs Bidor Frim Forest, Operations Continue Amid Challenges

Bidor: About 2.42 hectares of forest area at the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Bidor caught fire in an incident yesterday evening.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad stated that his department received a call about the fire at 5.42 pm. Immediately, a team from the Bidor Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location.

The firefighting operation was conducted using a 700-foot jet stream, employing two jets and a transport pump to source water from a nearby pond. Despite the challenging circumstances, the team managed to control the blaze, with only 15 percent of the affected area still burning.

The operation continued into the night with a shift change at the location. However, due to safety concerns and the controlled state of the fire, operations were suspended at midnight. Efforts to fully extinguish the remaining fire resumed this morning.
