Johor: The Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has denied any involvement of the state government administration in the recent corruption and abuse of power case concerning housing plot applications, following the arrest of an individual yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MACC confirmed that the individual in question is the chairman of the 2nd Generation Housing Site Action Committee at Felda Tenggaroh 2 in Mersing. The commission urged all parties to avoid speculating or spreading inaccurate information, particularly in relation to state government officials or individuals.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman emphasized the commission's commitment to conducting a professional, independent, and transparent investigation. He stated that there would be no tolerance for acts of corruption or abuse of power.

Earlier, Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor reinforced the state government's stance against any exploitation, deceit, or abuse of position for personal gain in public housing matters.

The MACC detained the suspect, a man in his 40s, on Monday. He is accused of abusing his power between 2016 and 2025 to solicit approximately RM4,000 from each of 400 applicants, amassing around RM1.6 million. The funds were allegedly misused for personal purposes through bank withdrawals from the committee's account using false invoices.
